Until now, treatment of Tuberculosis involved taking drugs which could have major side effects, but now it is through Homeopathy that Tuberculosis can be cured, that too without any side effect. Dr. Kusum S. Chand, Senior Consultant & HOD, Homeopathy at Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital, Ghaziabad, has won the most prestigious Dr. Roger Prize for Best Poster Presentation (among 83 entries) in London. The topic was “Homeopathy in the Treatment of Tuberculosis: Clinical Experience. Dr. Kusum S. Chand’s recognition is not just a proud moment for Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital but for the country as a whole. For the last 12 years, she has been actively working on the role of Homeopathy in treatment of multi drug resistant Tuberculosis as a project initiated by the Government of Delhi. She was able to establish that homeopathy has a definite role in treatment of Tuberculosis especially in cases where Allopathic treatment fails due to various side effects. It is this passion, dedication and hard work of Dr. Chand which has paid off today, not just for her but also as a ray of hope for Tuberculosis patients. Dr. Kusum S. Chand M.B.B.S., M.D (Med) MF (Hom), is a post graduate in Medicine from Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi. She has been associated with Nehru Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital, N.Delhi; as professor of Medicine for over 25 years. She is also a member of Faculty of Homeopathy, London for 18 years. She has the experience of integrating Homeopathy with main stream medicine, allopath for over 30 years. She has been actively involved with Homeopathy in the Treatment of Tuberculosis and Life Style disorders like Diabetes, Hypertension and Obesity.

1. Dr Ganesh Kumar Mani is, presently, associated with Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital, Ghaziabad, as Promoter Director and is also the Chairman, Pushpanjali Institute of Cardiac Sciences and also the Promoter Director of Pushpanjali Crosslay hospital. He is also the Senior Cardiac Surgeon at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. Dr Mani was one of the pioneers of Cardiac Surgery in the eighties at Perambur Railway Hospital, for both Railway beneficiaries as well as other heart patients who came from different parts of India for heart surgery (coronary, congenital or valvular heart disease). He established standards and protocols to achieve outcomes at par with advanced centers in the west. Dr Mani is also one of the first surgeons who pioneered “Beating Heart Bypass Surgery” in the year 2000 and introduced new techniques to practice and teach this procedure to his peers. Today, most surgeons in India have adopted this technique for coronary Artery Bypass which has significantly reduced morbidity and mortality. 2. Born on September 11, 1948 Dr. Mani received his MBBS and MS degrees from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi in 1969 and 1975 respectively and M.Ch in Cardiac Surgery from Christian Medical College, Vellore in 1979. He was adjudged as the best post-doctoral candidate for the membership of National Academy of Medical Sciences in 1980. He was sponsored in 1983 by Southern Railway Hospital to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and Royal St. Vincent Hospital, Sydney, for Cardiac Transplant and training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Royal Children Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. Having been trained by world renowned Heart Surgeons in Australia, Dr Mani has already personally performed over 18,000 cardiac surgeries in various hospitals in India and has achieved almost ZERO MORTALITY. 3. The team approach introduced by him, bringing surgeons and anesthesiologists together, brought the Indian Cardiac Centers at the Railway Hospital Perambur, Batra, Apollo and Delhi Heart & Lung Institute at par with the best in the world. Dr Mani has had the privilege of performing cardiac surgery on important leaders like Rajmata Vijay Raje Scindia, Mohd. Shafi Qureshi and Dr E Sreedharan and many other prominent dignitaries. 4. Dr Mani is a Fellow and Member of many National and International Cardio Thoracic Surgery Associations. He was nominated by the Government of Delhi as Member of Executive Committee of the 1st Medical Council. As a result of his professional dedication and highly successful surgical performance, he was also honored on the Medical Accreditation Committee of the Healthcare Federation of CII. He is also the Founder President of “Health Education And Research Trust” which funds free heart camps, cardiac rehabilitation and other community services, including training non-medical people for Basic Life Support. He is an active member of Rotary Club, Delhi Central where he has founded Cardiac Rehabilitation and Diabetes awareness at Rotary Viklang Kendra, Delhi. He was also unanimously elected as Chairman of DTEA Alumni Trust which has contributed in a big way to thousands of middle class students studying in DTEA schools. 5. Dr Mani is a recipient of numerous high awards and honors. To name a few, in 1992 he was conferred the National Citizen’s Award by late Vice President of India Honb’le Shri K R Narayan as well as MAMC Alumnus Award by Honb’le Shri P K Dave, Lieutenant Governor, Delhi. He received National Excellence Award 1996 from former Prime Minister of India Late Shri. Chandra Shekhar. He was conferred IMA Life Time Achievement Award in 2002, IMA-NDB Distinguished Services Award 2009 and IMA-Dr K Sharan Cardiology Excellence Award in 2011. He is also the recipient of Padma award (2013) by the Honorable President of India.
